OSOTF awards are allocated on the basis of academic excellence; however, financial need is the primary consideration for OSOTF awards. The award holder must be a full-time student for at least 14 weeks in any term during which they hold the award. Internal awards are automatically used to pay the student's outstanding fees. Preference in funding decisions will be given to students in year 1-2 of their MSc or year 1-4 of their PhD and year 5 for transfers. Students beyond these years will be considered under exceptional circumstances. The length of support from OSOTF awards is for up to one year and is not renewable, however new application may be made for subsequent competitions.

In order to assist the review committee, please –

Complete all sections of the application form, ensuring that each section is either filled out or the appropriate documents are attached. All applications are to be signed by the applicant, the applicant’s supervisor and the Graduate Coordinator.

Complete the OSOTF Needs Assessment form, making sure that all the details of your income is clear. Provide where applicable:?

  1. the names and amount for existing awards, and
  2. details on funding from your supervisor. Also, given that the primary criterion for this award is one of “need”, provide a good description of why you are in need. If you have outstanding student loans or other debts and/or have dependants, please provide details.
